Hectorina was a DIY rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina (2012-2021)
Hectorina’s sound explores all corners of psychedelic pop, post-punk and experimental rock, taking influence from artists such as Taking Heads, Can, The Pixies, Deerhoof and Harry Nilsson. Members Dylan Gilbert, John Harrell III and Zach Jordan have together released 5 full-length albums, 2 EPs, as well as various singles since the band’s start.
Hectorina is known for their ecstatic live show which ranges from costumed tributes to improvised sets to performance art. The band has toured extensively up and down the East coast, including performances at the CMJ Music Marathon (New York, NY) and Hopscotch Music Festival (Raleigh, NC), and shared the stage with artists such as Sylvan Esso, Man Man, Blitzen Trapper, Helado Negro, Ava Luna and Benji Hughes.
In 2015 Hectorina recruited a small army of performance artists, actors and dancers to transform their 2013 rock opera Collywobble into a fully fledged theatrical production. Collywobble premiered during Hectorina’s second month-long residency at Snug Harbor (Charlotte, NC) with later performances at Don’t Sweat It Fest (Rock Hill, SC) and the Indie Grits Film Festival (Columbia, SC).
Their Latest Single "Ancient Dust" was released May 29th 2020 and their entire discography is now streaming on all major platforms.
